Whisper Lore
What is a Whisper Stone?
A Whisper Stone is a locked moment in time, created by a story it witnessed. Tap it with your phone and it opens a short story.
They’re not meant to be collected. They’re meant to be noticed, experienced — a tiny pause in your day that turns an ordinary place into something… else.
There’s no “solve” and no “fail”. If you can tap it, you can experience it. Some stones offer joy, grief, reflection — but always meaning.
Some stones are waiting — under leaves, near benches, along paths, or tucked where you’d never think to look. If you pause and pay attention… you might find one.
If you find a Whisper Stone, you’re a Seeker now. Welcome.
Pick a Whisper from the section to learn how each one behaves.
Tethered Whispers
Whispers bound to a place by intent. They belong where they were left, and resist being moved.
If you take one too far, the tether pulls back.
About location (the important bit):
- The Whisper may ask for location permission only at the moment you tap (and only if it needs it).
- It may ask again when you leave a “last seen” note — so the stone can be found again.
- We never track Seekers, and nothing runs in the background. This is about the stone’s resting place — not you.
- This is why we ask you not to take them home: it logs the stone’s position. Never yours
Tangled Whispers
Two Whispers that share a single truth. Finding one may sound like the end.
But finding its other half may reveal more than you think.
Echo Fragments
Pieces of a larger Whisper Tale, scattered across places, or time.
Alone, they whisper. Together, they remember.
Seed of Echoes
A beginning Whisper — created to travel. Seeds may be placed anywhere (near or far) so long as their resting place is remembered, respected and shared.
They are how the trail grows.
Whisper Soul
A personal Whisper made for one person. Not part of the trail. Not meant to wander.
A story given a home.
Monoliths (Coming Soon)
Monoliths are the anchor stone of their whisper roots. They can hold stories that no longer travel — preserving them, remembering them, and sometimes speaking on behalf of the places they belong.
Seekers can use Monoliths to gain access to the trail and discover new Whisper Stones or revisit old ones.
